Consultations
Legal Services
For legal services, whether you are separating or considering an agreement for a new relationship, the best place to start is a consultation. A consultation is your opportunity to get a “big picture” view of the issues and process options for resolving them, while also determining whether we are a “good fit”. During the consultation, I can begin to understand the details of your situation and what you are looking for, so I can tailor the information I provide.
I offer an initial consultation for a flat rate of $300 (+HST). It usually lasts about an hour, up to an hour and a half. I offer this flat rate because I don’t want you watching the clock during this important first meeting. I want you to let me know what’s important to you and have the time to explore your process options with me. This is the first building block for potentially working together.
My regular hourly rate is $385.
Mediation Services
If you and your spouse wish to use mediation to work through separation issues or the details for a cohabitation agreement or marriage contract, you need to each schedule a first meeting with me. I offer this at the same rate as my legal service consultation.
Not certain whether mediation is the right process choice after reviewing the information? I can do a 10-minute free call with you and your spouse. I cannot discuss the particulars of your situation, as I would in a full consultation, but I can discuss the differences between mediation and legal representation.
Not certain if I am the right mediator for you and your spouse? I can do a 10-minute free call with you and your spouse to answer a few questions and assess “fit”.
During times when I felt incredibly frustrated and wanted to quit or go to court, Jacqueline encouraged (and insisted) that I stick to the process. She did what was in my best interests and not necessarily what I wanted in the moment. I truly appreciate it.
If you need a family lawyer who will work toward the big picture and doing what is in the best interests of everyone, Jacqueline is for you. If you want to ‘burn it with fire’ maybe look elsewhere.
